Question: Staffing Agencies worth it?
I interviewed with “the world leader in staffing companies” here in South Florida about 3 months ago. I’ve had about 3 interviews set up and every single one has been a disaster, from giving me the wrong address to setting me up at wrong times (people that were set to interview me were not aware of the time I was supposed to be interviewed because they were never notified). In these past 3 months I’ve spoken to I think 50% of their entire staff in 4 branches and well they always try to set me up with something that does not matches my requests. Like commute time I’m ok with up to 20 miles and they tried setting me up with something about 90 minutes away, My requested compensation was around $ 15 dollars and hour, and I’m being set up with $ 10. I give em calls and they will “reply” when something becomes available and well its seems like nothing is ever available. Anyone have a good experience in South Florida with any staffing agency? (I’ve interviewed with another one, so far the same)

I actually work for a staffing agency. This agency you are working with sound extremely unprofessional. There should ALWAYS be communication going on between you, the staffing agency, and the company. You have a responsibility to call every few days, to let them know to still keep you in mind if something comes up-people are always finding jobs by other means, so if you arent persistent they may think you’ve found employment elsewhere-and they should be commmunicating with the companies, who are clients to the staffing agency, to make sure someone is there for interviews, checkins, etc.
Another thing you said was they arent giving you jobs matching the criteria you asked-there are only so many jobs that come in, some may not fit your exact criteria. A good agency will try to get as close as possible. If they cant find anything right away, they may offer you something else, that IS available, so at least you are making 10 dollars an hour instead of zero. But as soon as something better comes along, they should let you know and place you at a higher paying job or something closer to home. Another reason they might not be sending you on jobs may be a lack of professionalism, personality, or hygiene on your part. An excellent candidate who can be placed will come in professionally dressed to the staffing agency, be clean, hair done, nails clean and trim, non offensive breath, follows directions well, like “Fill this application out completely.” Have a pleasant personality, and good job history. You are a red flag if you are a job hopper. So I hope that helps out. Try another agency-they are great if professional, and used correctly.
