Question: What accounting position would you recommend? Staff Accountant at a” Company” OR at a “Public CPA firm”?
I hold a B.S. in Economics and currently searching and deciding on what kind of job I should take as an accountant. I was previously an A/P accountant at a large global cell-phone corporation and the management there was horrible, and i left. I was wondering if do decide on pursuing accounting as a career, which one should be better for my future. I know that I may sound biased as working for another “company” and I have yet to work at an “actual CPA firm” so i was wondering if anyone out there who have experienced both can give me some advice.

If you are a CPA having CPA firm experience is mandatory and you can then go to private industry as management. A/P isn’t accounting it is bookkeeping.

I find it amazing how Labor and their supporters jump on the anti work choices band wagon and i guess SOME employers have done the wrong thing and been un Australian and took advantage of a Government policy intended to empower workers ! This was seen with Theresa Reinn (?) Rudds wife taking advantage of workers by underpaying them in her employment agency, “Work Directions”, part of the Ingeus Group of Companies, UK owned and being a major embarasment to the ALP. Labor looking after you ! Yeh right, hes own wife under payed workers ! Trust Labor, yeh right !
Seriously guys doesn’t anyone find this hypocritical from Labor, Rudds own wife UNDER PAYINA STAFF ! Lost for words ? Trust Labor now ? Their strongest strategy abused by their own.

Question: London, UK: Is it legal for a commercial company with paid employees to use “volunteer staff”?
In the recession? To take on “volunteer secretaries with a view to a permanent post in 3 months”?

Sounds dodgy to me – the ad asked applicants to write saying what they could “bring to the company”, but didn’t say what the company did.

If it was a charity, wouldn’t they have been asked to say why they were interested in the work and objects of the charity?

Staff Service in a temporary staffing company (+ HR consulting…).
Need revenue made in Japan alone.
Staff service is a Japanese company.
