Question: Who stole my credit card and help with it?
Ok, So, it may be all academic at this point, but I would like opinions on who stole my credit card info.
The story: Until 2pm on Tues(yesterday), all was fine. Around then I got a flat tire. I am on a temp-work assignment in an odd city, so I went online and found a “national tow-referral service” whom I called. They quoted a price, I gave credit info,they said they would contact a local company to fix it. Within an hour, someone showed up, changed the flat, and all seemed fine.
Today, I went to get a new tire, and my credit card (same one) was declined. I get back, call credit co, who tells me there have been numerous unauth. transactions (all after placing initial call). They will delete unauth charges, but questions:
–1–I did authorize x$ to originally change the tire (this was never actually charged)–am I at risk of retribution if tow company comes back at me for not getting their money?–if so, what do I expect?
–2–Who would you guess it was: referral co or co who showed up to change tire? (just curious)
–3–I have already had that credit # changed–is there anything else I need to do to protect myself?

The temporary employment industry has gone through a number of transitions over the years. While temp agencies were originally used for hiring people to fill in for workers who were on vacation, it has now evolved into an industry which uses highly skilled workers. However, the temporary employment industry is considered to be a fringe market because it only employs workers for a short period of time. In the fall of last year, nearly 4 million people were hired to work for temp agencies.
Once the economy began to slow, many of these people lost their jobs. Despite this, temp agencies are expected to thrive in the US and other nations in the coming years. There are a large number of pros and cons which are associated with this industry. While temporary jobs are the bane of many people, others find them to be enjoyable. There are a number of good reasons why working with a temp agency can be good, and they can provide benefits which are good for both employers and employees. The very first temp agency was created in 1946 by a businessman named William Russell Kelly. Employers benefit from temp agencies because they can save money on health insurance, retirement, and other expenses. Parents who have young children to take care of will often find temp agencies to be extremely attractive.
At the same time, there are a number of disadvantages to temp agencies which need to be discussed. Because they are short term jobs, they do not offer health insurance or retirement benefits. This means it is up to the employee to open up a 401K or IRA in order to save for retirement. It is also the responsibility of the employee to make sure they have health insurance. With temp agencies, there is no such thing as job security. You may only be hired to work for one season, and it may take you time to find another temp job. If you run out of money between jobs, you could find yourself in financial danger.
Others see temp agencies as a sign that the US economy is declining. They feel that people should stay at a job for years, and should not have to switch jobs every few months. They cite outsourcing, immigration, and corporate corruption as a factor in why so many are turning to temp agencies. Those with these views tend to be older Americans who have retired or are nearing retirement. Despite these views, it is clear that temp agencies are here to stay.

Question: How long can a home warranty company put off heat/hot water repair?
We settled on our new house on Oct. 1st and moved in last weekend. When we got in last weekend, we found that the boiler that worked during our home inspection was no longer producing heat or hot water. We had a plumber come out to get an idea of the problem and he said without a doubt that it needs to be replaced. Called the home warranty company Monday night and they had their guy come out on Tuesday – he said to fill our oil tank (which turned out was not the issue – we still had it a third full) and that the aquastat needs to be replaced.
It’s now Saturday and their guy still has not located the part. We’ve been without heat or hot water for the past week, but the warranty company says that because we’re “technically being serviced” they can’t do anything about it.
How long do I have to wait??? I want to just get my own plumber out and fix it but they won’t allow that. It’s freezing here – high of 40 today, in the 30′s at night. The house temp is well under 60 and my pipes are starting to freeze.
Do I have ANY recourse at all?
